Omaha!
Good news! Our September Battle Royale show is filling up with crowd favorites and fresh new talent, if you’re up to the challenge contact us! We will be doing three of these events a year and are always open to new faces..in fact, our newest member Chris Larkin’s first time doing stand up was at the first Battle Royale. Comedy isn’t magic, anyone can do it ….so if you’ve ever wanted to, now is your chance. If you think you’re funny, step up and go for it…you have nothing to lose except a little bit of pride if you fail (and who needs pride when we have Arby’s and Coldstone Creamery?). Personally, I’ve been doing sketch comedy for four years and actual stand up for only a little over one year…I was terrified of getting on stage and refused to attempt it. I resigned myself to only being funny on the internet until my friends (honey)badgered me into trying it, and now its “what I do”. Don’t sell yourselves short, comedy is awesome…and can only thrive and grow in our city if more people get involved as fans and performers.
We’re going to continue putting on our free monthly event shows at The Waiting Room but will also be doing free monthly workshop shows at The Slowdown. These will be structured along a more open style where we will be encouraging new and first time comedians/sketch groups to try out their material in an environment where alternative comedy is encouraged. Screw fame and fortune, Omaha needs a comedy scene with talent and new ideas (like the amazing music, theater, and art scenes). Come out to a show and check it out, I promise it will be OK.

P.S. Anyone interested in comedy in Omaha should also check out the classes and weekly improv shows at Backline Improv Theater (http://backlineimprov.com/). Dylane Rohde is an awesome teacher and his classes are most excellent.
