1. OK Party’s Favorite Shows of 2012

Hey everybody!  We’ve been busy working on our new main website that hopefully will start linking to this tumblr blog correctly.  The internet is a strange and mystical place that is frustrating and arousing.  We also realize that making a “best of 2012” list in almost February is a little lazy, but hey…we are wild party dudes with super normal time consuming lives.  Regardless, posted below are some of our favorite OK Party memories of 2012.  Enjoy!

  2. December!

This December we refuse to let the cold slow us down.  On the 19th we will be having our first Comedy Debate show at the Waiting Room (come check it out, its free!) as well as participating in the yearly Omahype Christmas show on 14th at The Slowdown and making another trip to Des Moines on the 21st.

The big news is that our good friend and killer LA comedian Andy Sell will be coming to town to do two shows with us (December 29th at Studio Gallery and December 30th at O’Leaver’S).  Andy rules and there will also be a lot of other out of town guests jumping on those shows while they’re back visiting family for the holidays, so come party!  See you jerks in 2013…

  3. OK Party & The Grawlix

OK Party and our good pals from Denver, The Grawlix, will be doing some comedy show inter-breeding this week and in January.  This Friday Ian and Zach will be performing in Denver on the monthly Grawlix show at The Bug Theater. (http://www.facebook.com/events/229824790482139/?fref=ts)  Then, to kick off 2013 the right way, The Grawlix will be coming to The Waiting Room in Omaha on January 11th.  This is mega huge, and will be an awesome time so mark it on your calendar that you haven’t bought yet.

Who are The Grawlix you ask?  What are you a scumbag?  The Grawlix (Ben Roy, Adam Cayton-Holland, and Andrew Overdahl) are a Denver comedy phenom that have been singularly and collectively assaulting the comedy world.  Both Ben and Adam have done shows with us at Studio Gallery, and they had a fine time.  If you haven’t watched their web series you are a real dummie, so get right on that:  http://www.funnyordie.com/thegrawlix

Also go buy one of their shirts, all proceeds go to them buying a kick-ass monster truck: http://greaterthancollective.limitedrun.com/categories/tee-shirt

  4. OK Party! DN! Denver!

We were lucky enough to be featured in the Daily Nebraskan today, go check it out. Thanks to them for the fun interview!

We also received this message from our website this morning that we wanted to share:

…I also just wanted to say how much I enjoyed a previous show that you guys put together. Back in September, you brought the Sklar Brothers in. It was the best experience I’ve ever had at a stand up show. Last weekend I was in Omaha to see Todd Glass at the Funnybone, and man, it was just such a different atmosphere. The crowd there was just not great. I couldn’t help but compare it to the amazing time I had at the show you fine gents put together.

Thanks for what you do for local comedy.

Thank you, this is our goal and why we love helping the Omaha comedy scene grow.  We want Omaha to have an eclectic and thriving comedy community on par with other bigger cities.  Come to our shows, have a good time, tell all of your friends…party.

Lastly, we are going to Denver and taking our friend John Thome and Ryan de la Garza.  Check out this flier for the December 1st show that our pal and Denver Comedian Chris Charpentier made for it!

Come out if you live in the mile high state!

  5. November!

Hey gang, we’ve got a bunch of great shows coming your way this month.  Let’s party.

This Sunday, November 4th, two awesome New York comedians will be doing a show with us at The Studio gallery.  Louis Katz and Nate Bargatze.  Both of these guys have been all over Comedy Central and clubs/festivals across the world.  Check out the videos below and come out and support an awesome show.

We are also bringing our Comedy Battle Royale back to The Waiting Room on November 28th as well as doing our very first OK Party shows in the Quad Cities and Denver. Check the calendar, come to a show, have a good time ya’ll.

  6. October!

The weather is getting colder, but the shows just keep getting better.  This month we’re thrilled to be bringing Kyle Kinane and Timmy Williams to Omaha.

Kyle Kinane is an amazing comedian who put out one of the best modern comedy albums “Death of the Party” a few years ago.  He’s rugged, salty, and always a good boozy time.  You may have seen him open for Daniel Tosh the last time that dude came through town.  He has a new Comedy Central Presents coming out soon so make sure you come see him before he’s too big for mortal realms.  October 14th @ O’Leaver’s for a mere $5.  Get there early, the place will be packed.

Timmy Williams is mostly widely known as a member of The Whitest Kids U Know, and if you don’t know who they are…you are nuts.  Timmy is touring with a group of awesome comedians from LA who include OK Party favorite, David Venhuizen.  Nebraska is getting lucky and getting TWO shows from the guys…October 22nd at The Waiting Room and October 23rd at The Spigot in Lincoln.  Don’t miss out, both shows are only $5.  Come to both, lose yourself in the magic.

We’ll also be celebrating our official first year of doing Explosivo shows at the Slowdown with a Halloween extravaganza.  Costumes, storytelling, games, and other terrifyingly fun things await.  More details soon, but make sure you mark October 31st on your calendars.

    Party!

  7. September!

Totally forgot to update the website…but if you didn’t know by know we have one heck of a weekend coming up!

The Sklar Brothers (if you don’t know them, you’re nuts) are performing at The Waiting Room on Friday September 14th.  Tickets are $20 in advanced (http://www.etix.com/ticket/online/performanceSearch.jsp?performance_id=1649486) or $25 day of show and starts at 9pm.

    http://www.facebook.com/events/442447039109173/

Then the next night, Saturday September 15th, one of our good friends from Denver named Chris Charpentier is coming to do a special show at O’Leaver’s!  Show is at 9pm and is only $5 and features Destiny Sturdivant, Bob Gurnett, John Thome, and us!  This is going to be a rad time.

    http://www.facebook.com/events/400540063343692/

We’ve got some other great shows this month as well (the month is almost half over, great job on updating guys!) and more great stuff coming up this Fall so just check our calendar!  Thanks!

  8. Comedy Battle Royale results!

Congratulations to the winner of our last Comedy Battle Royale, Mike Vamosi (and second place winner Bob Gurnett)!  Mike took home the trophy and $100 cash prize (Bob got $50 and a hug).  Thank you to everyone who came out and packed the Waiting Room and thank you to everyone who performed.  The next Battle will be in November, so keep your eyes peeled.  Excellent nights ya’ll.

In other news Zach will be performing at the Black Box Comedy Festival in Atlanta this October (http://www.blackboxcomedy.com/) and Ian will be performing at The Fest in Gainesville a few weeks later (http://www.thefestfl.com/fest11/).  Spreading the good word of Omaha across the land!

  9. August!

Summer may be almost over…but OK Party will never stop.  We have some excellent shows coming your way this August.

On August 18th our good friend John-Michael Bond from the ATL is touring up to Omaha with two other Atlanta comedians; Brian Emond and Andrew Wright!  We promised them a party at The Studio Gallery….let’s make it so!  (Our good friend David Venhuizen from “The Stampede Show” in L.A. is rumored to be appearing as well….don’t miss this)

    http://www.facebook.com/events/287650377999915/

Unfortunately the Who Charted Live show was cancelled.  Total bummer.

Also make sure you check out our other shows on the calendar….we have an O’Leaver’s show (sans Ian and Zach) on August 4th with a boat load of great comedians.  Brad Stewart is headlining The Waiting Room on the 17th, he’s one of the best in the biz and a great friend of OK Party.  We’re also doing another Explosivo at the Slowdown on the 22nd, lots of new weird stuff!

We are also putting on a very special benefit show for the Women’s Center for Advancement with the help of some local music acts and some great comedians on August 30th at The Slowdown.  Come show your support!

Here’s a video of Mayor Jim Suttle opening Omaha Comedy Week, followed by us acting like jerks.

Zach and Ian will both be performing at the Laugh Track Comedy Festival August 2-4 in beautiful Denver, CO.  Fear not Omaha, there’s a rumor going around that Mike Perry may have a surprise show for you while Ian and Zach are gone.

Ian’s goal is to wrestle every single comedian in this TJ Miller video about Denver:
